Abstract

Naqshbandi sufi order is the great order of mysticism in Islam. First personality of this order is Hazrat Abu Bakar Siddique (R.A), then this order spread all over the world. There are four historical periods of this silsla. Most prominent personalities of the silsla Aliya Naqshbadia are Hazrat Ba Yazeed Bistami, Hazrat Abd ul Khaliq Ghajdwani, Hazrat Bahaw ul din Naqssbad Bukhari and Hazrat Sheikh Ahmad Serhindi Farooqi R.A. In these periods, many teachings of Tasaawwuf are included and excluded. After Hazrat Imam Rabbani, this silsla had expended and many Khanqahs were established in Indo Pakistan. In this article, a short updated history of this great Sufi Order in subcontinents and explanation of some terminologies of Tasaawwuf are discussed."
