Abstract:
Arabic calligraphy, at the beginning of Islam, was not very precise, perfect, and proficient as we see today. In the early Islamic era the Arabs read prose and poetry without dots, pauses, and signs, relying on the context of the text. When Islam spread and Arabs mixed with non-Arabs, the Arabs feared about their language would be corrupted, these errors and melody would come into the Holy Qur’an. These factor,s led scholars and rulers to invent signs and dots. There are different opinions about the first founder of signs and dots. The invention of dots invented a new unique and rare genre of literature that called (الأدب المهمل) Ghair manqot , dotless or undotted literature.It has many shapes and kinds. Most famous and unique writings in thsis regard, is Holy Quran interpretation by Abul Faiz Faizi.
This research article is divided into three parts: (i) A brief history of arabic writing style and development after Islam, in this part clarified the fact of early arabic style dots actual meanings, which many people even students and researchers are unfamiliar and ignorant (ii) Introduction to the dotless arabic literature and its kinds with examples (iii) Results .
